2 More... I'm on a Roll!

Children of Israel (left) and The Walls of Jericho (right).
I completed 2 more blocks for my Bible quilt yesterday!
That means only 2 more to go and I'll be ready to decide on the layout design and sashing/borders.

Newest Block

This is the latest block for the Bible quilt that I'm making.
It's meant to be a Christmas gift for someone special but, at the rate I'm going, it may be next Christmas before it's completed!

It took me about 2 hours just to make this block!

I'm hoping to be able to get some more done on it today.
The kids are home from school and we don't have any plans until tonight.
I think that calls for a lazy, quiet day inside.

Hope everyone has a great day!!

I'm Just Like a 2 Year Old

A 2 year old wants to do everything themselves... no help! What do they say?.... "I do it!!!"

But what happens when they get hurt or frustrated? They began to yell for Mommy.

I'm just like that....

I want to do everything on my own. I want to be in control. "I DO IT!"

And then, I get hurt or I'm broken or overwhelmed and what do I do?

I run to my Father. "God, please help me! Get me out of this mess I've created."

I'm so thankful that my Father is patient, kind, loving, and always available.
That doesn't mean that He will get me out of my mess instantly. Sometimes that 2 year old needs to learn the consequences of actions. Sometimes I need to learn those consequences also.

But He always helps me make it through.

"Good and upright is the Lord;
Therefore He teaches sinners in the way.
The humble He guides in justice,
And the humble He teaches His way."
--- Psalm 25: 8 & 9

Sloooooowwwwww Down.....

That's my handsome teenager, Ryan. He looks like a young man!

And there is my Bear making a big tackle! We are so proud of him.
Football season is over!
The boys had their final games yesterday at The Football Jamboree.
Kyle's team ended up with a 3rd place trophy and Ryan's team received 1st!

It was a good day of football!!

So now I'm looking forward to a slower pace of life for the next few weeks (until basketball starts... uuugghh).
Maybe some time to:
-work on my quilts in progress....
- clean up the garden....
- get started on some homemade Christmas gifts....
- enjoy taking walks in the falling leaves....
- read some books that have been collecting dust on my nightstand....
- focus on my time with Jesus...

There are alot of things I'm planning on doing with our spare time now. So I guess it's not really spare time anymore if I already have it all planned out...

"Let your eyes look straight ahead,
And your eyelids look right before you.
Ponder the path of your feet,
And let all your ways be established."

Have I Mentioned Before.....

.... That I love Fall? I'm pretty sure I have.

Kyle... Fall 2003

This time of year always fills me with wonder at God's amazing creation and the awesome beauty we get to witness as He changes the seasons.

Kaycie--- Fall 2006

I love the smells. Outside smells earthy, clean, and fresh.
Inside smells like gingerbread baking and pumpkin pie spice.

The air just feels so crisp in the mornings when I go out to take care of the animals.

I hope you all are enjoying every day of this wonderful season.

Take time to look around. Notice the beautiful colors, smell the fresh air, and take time to taste some old-fashioned goodies.

HAPPY FALL!!!!

A Giveaway I Would LOVE To Win!!

I think for most quilters, we spend alot of time making projects for other people. Which means that the fabric we work with isn't always a fabric of our choice. Alot of times it means working with colors or prints or styles that aren't necessarily our "taste".
This is true for me. Even though I've only completed 4 quilts, only 1 of them was my "style".

Well, now I'm really hoping to win this giveaway at Pumpkin Patch Primitive Quilts because it is so my STYLE!!
The fabric is country, rustic, primitive, cozy.... all those good things that I like!
I would love to add this fabric to my stash, especially since I was really wanting to make a Fall themed quilt soon. The colors would be great for that!

So help me out, if you go and check out this giveaway, please mention that I sent you. That gives me an extra entry. Thanks a bunch!!

(by the way, I want to tell my bestest buddy, Marla, thank you so much for the fabric! I was checking out some quilt designs last night that I want to use some of it for. Love you!)

Come Lord Jesus, Come!

It's impossible to not hear doom and despair these days. I know I can get drawn into the fear and uncertainty that our nation is facing.
But this morning, I'm reminded that the spirit of fear is not from God.
He doesn't want us to fear. He doesn't want us to be afraid of men or what men can do.

I believe it's important to know what is happening in our nation and to be aware of events that are changing the shape of this country. And to take a stand when a stand needs to be taken!! But I don't think we should be so totally consumed with it that we lose our focus.

We know, by reading Revelation, that things in this world are going to change. There is no doubt about that!
I'm not saying necessarily that I believe "The End" is here, I'm just saying that according to God's Word, certain things have to happen to fulfill His ultimate plan.

Reading in "Our Daily Bread" today brought me to this passage:

"For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord. Therefore, comfort one another with these words."
--- 1 Thessalonions 4: 16 -18

Oh, how I look forward to that day!
And so I say.....
COME LORD JESUS, COME!!

Angel?.... I Think Not!!!

For those friends and family who believe that Little Ms. Lindsey is an angel.....

Here is proof of her tantrums!!...
I actually don't really know what had made her so mad but it didn't help when I got the camera out... that made her even more angry....

She cried for about 5 minutes, then got up and started playing. I guess she just needed to get her frustration out.

Psalm 4:4 -5----
"Be angry, and do not sin. Meditate within your heart on your bed, and be still.
Offer the sacrifices of righteousness,
And put your trust in the Lord."

Giving Up the Throne...

What does it mean to place Jesus on the throne of my life?

How do I go about doing it?

It's about letting go, it's about purging, it's about praying...

It's about hearing and listening to His voice...

Some days I get it right but most often, I mess it all up.

I like to be in control. I like sulking in my self-pity... but only to a degree.

Then I end up sick with myself. God nudges my heart and something happens.

I realize that bitterness is never the answer. At least it's not the answer I want. Bitterness only causes more strife, more arguments, more bitterness.

I saw this phrase recently,

"Love is never afraid of giving too much!"

Why am I afraid of giving too much? Do I not really have love?

It's because I forget this very important fact:

I can only love when I receive and acknowledge His love!

There is no way that I can produce love on my own.

1 John 4:19--- "We love Him because He first loved us."

Yep, It's D-O-N-E!

The "girly" coin quilt is now, as I type, being cuddled and loved in the bed of my little one. She is all snuggled in tight and cozy, comfy!

I took these pictures this morning when I finished the binding. Lindsey kept saying, "More pictures, Mommy, more!"

So here is another adorable shot:
I'm pleased with how it turned out. The pink sweatshirt material for the backing was not the easiest to work with! But in the end, I like the softness of it.

"Now may the Lord of peace Himself give you peace always in every way. The Lord be with you all."
---- 2 Thessalonians 3: 16
